President Biden met with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this week to discuss the impact of rising inflation on the country. In a recent op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Biden said that fighting inflation was the government’s top economic challenge now. Biden also said that unlike previous administrations, he would not try to sway the Federal Reserve’s decision-making process. The Federal Reserve will have hard work ahead to balance raising interest rates to help deal with inflation yet, at the same time, not cause a recession either later this year or early next year.
