Position Title: Program Associate for National Childcare Program 

Location: Washington, DC | Hybrid 

Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 

Reports To: Snr. Director of Innovation and Programming 

Employment Type: Full-time (one-year term employment with option to renew)

Position Overview: The Program Associate for the National Childcare Program will play a crucial role in managing and supporting the Childcare Funding Opportunity initiative under the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO). This initiative focuses on providing entrepreneurial development services to women-owned childcare small businesses, including those owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Program Management: 

  • Oversee the implementation and management of the Childcare Funding Opportunity program. 
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure successful program execution. 
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables. 
  • Monitor program activities to ensure compliance with SBA guidelines and requirements. 

Technical Assistance and Training: 

  • Provide direct technical assistance and training to women-owned childcare businesses. 
  • Develop and deliver workshops, webinars, and other training materials focused on business formation, financing, management, and operations. 
  • Assist entrepreneurs in developing business plans, preparing financial statements, and accessing capital. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including SBA District Offices, local and state government entities, and private organizations. 
  • Leverage partnerships to enhance the resources and support available to childcare entrepreneurs. 

Data Collection and Reporting: 

  • Collect, analyze, and report program data to evaluate the impact of services provided. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of required reports to SBA and other stakeholders. 
  • Utilize data to inform program improvements and strategic decision-making. 

Community Outreach: 

  • Engage with underserved and disadvantaged communities to promote the Childcare Funding Opportunity program. 
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase program awareness and participation. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, business development, or a related area, with a focus on childcare or small business support. 
  • Strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by women-owned and socially disadvantaged businesses. 
  • Proven experience in providing technical assistance and training to small business owners. 
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
