AEO Board Portal

Welcome

Welcome to the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) Board Portal. This space is designed to support the governance, leadership, and strategic stewardship of AEO as we advance our mission to strengthen small business ecosystems nationwide.

AEO is entering a pivotal chapter—one defined by research-driven insight, policy leadership, regional engagement, and cross-sector collaboration. The Board plays a critical role in guiding this work, ensuring strong governance, and helping position AEO for long-term sustainability and national influence.

This portal serves as a centralized resource for board members and invited prospective leaders to access key materials, understand expectations of service, and engage meaningfully in AEO’s strategic direction.

About AEO

Founded more than 35 years ago, the Association for Enterprise Opportunity is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing economic opportunity through strong, resilient small business ecosystems.

AEO works at the intersection of research, policy, and partnerships—supporting the organizations that serve entrepreneurs and elevating evidence-based solutions that strengthen local and regional economies. Our work informs policymakers, funders, and ecosystem leaders and helps translate insight into action.

As the small business landscape continues to evolve, AEO serves as a trusted, neutral convener and national thought leader focused on what works for Main Street businesses.

The Role of the Board

The AEO Board of Directors provides fiduciary oversight, strategic guidance, and leadership stewardship in support of the organization’s mission and long-term vision.

Board members are expected to:

  • Uphold AEO’s mission, values, and governance responsibilities

  • Provide strategic insight and sector expertise

  • Support organizational sustainability and visibility

  • Serve as ambassadors for AEO within their networks

The Board works in close partnership with the President & CEO and leadership team to ensure that AEO remains mission-driven, financially sound, and positioned for impact.
