The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) Celebrates Labor Day with a Discussion on Self-Employment Research

Washington, DC, August 26, 2024 —The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) celebrates Labor Day 2024 with the re-release of its 2023 research report on the role of independent contracting in the small business ecosystem, “Self-Employment: The Role of Independent Contracting in Entrepreneurship.”

Originally released in 2023, AEO’s study aimed to deepen the understanding of self-employed individuals engaged in independent contracting—a significant and growing segment within the microbusiness economy. The report, based on extensive interviews and surveys of 950 individuals, examines the critical roles of self-employment and independent contracting in this sector. It provides a detailed analysis of why individuals choose self-employment, the challenges and opportunities they face, and the types of support necessary for their success. The re-released report features a revised title and a new foreword by AEO’s President and CEO, Natalie Madeira Cofield.

To mark this occasion, AEO will host a digital event on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM ET, where industry leaders will discuss the vital role of independent contracting within the small business ecosystem. The event will include an esteemed panel of speakers:
