Dear AEO Community,
As we celebrate Black Business Month this August, we reflect on the incredible contributions and achievements of Black entrepreneurs across the nation. Black-owned businesses are vital to the fabric of our economy, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and driving community development. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are over 2.6 million Black-owned businesses in the United States, contributing billions of dollars to our economy and providing employment opportunities to millions.
At the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), we are committed to supporting these businesses through initiatives like our Tapestry Project. This innovative project leverages data and technology to identify and support Black-owned businesses, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to thrive. You can learn more about this important work at Tapestry Project.
In addition to celebrating the successes of Black entrepreneurs, we are excited to announce our upcoming event in Martha’s Vineyard on August 14, a place rich with history and significance for Black Americans. This event will feature notable congressional leaders and the Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Martha’s Vineyard has long been a symbol of economic empowerment and community for Black Americans, and we are honored to host this gathering in such a historic location.
This event will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the future of Black entrepreneurship, share insights, and foster connections that will drive economic empowerment and equity. We look forward to engaging with our community and continuing our mission to support and uplift Black-owned businesses.
As we honor Black Business Month, let us celebrate our rich legacy and embrace the opportunities ahead. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable economy for all.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication.
