Despite ongoing economic pressures, small businesses continued to add jobs in June while wages also increased. The South also remained the top region in the country for small business job growth.

NFL Commits $100 Million to Support Black-Owned Businesses  

The National Football League (NFL) announced it committed over $100 million to causes that work with the Contract with Black America Institute. The organization aims to encourage sports leagues to hire more Black-owned vendors, including in consumer services and technology.

Truist Announces $120 Million Commitment to Strength Small Businesses  

Truist Financial Corporation announced a $120 million commitment to strengthen Black, Latinx, and women-owned small businesses. The funding also includes $30 million in grants to non-profits that assist entrepreneurs.

EIDL Loans Available to Small Businesses Impacted by Drought  

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced another round of Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for small businesses in six states. The states include South Dakota, Texas, Nevada, Nebraska, Kansas, and Idaho.

Walmart Holds “Open Call” Event for Entrepreneurs  

Walmart recently held its annual “Open Call” event where small business owners pitched their products for potential placement on the retail giant’s shelves. More than 4,500 companies applied this year and 1,500 overall made their pitch.
