Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) Releases Fact Sheet with New Insights on Native-Owned Businesses

Washington, D.C., November 20, 2024 – In celebration of November, Native American Heritage Month, the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) is proud to release a new fact sheet spotlighting the contributions of Native American entrepreneurs and emerging opportunities for support.

This essential resource highlights the role of Native-owned businesses in driving community resilience and sustainability across the United States. Notable findings include a 47% increase in Native-owned businesses since 2012 and a strong presence of youth entrepreneurship.

Download the Native American Business Ownership Fact Sheet here.

“This fact sheet illustrates the resilience and ingenuity of Native entrepreneurs while spotlighting systemic barriers that limit their potential,” said Natalie Madeira Cofield, President and CEO of AEO. “Native business owners are driving community development, creating jobs, and sustaining cultural heritage in their communities.”

The fact sheet highlights the critical role of Native American Financial Institutions (NAFIs) in closing financing gaps through relationship-based lending and support, empowering Native entrepreneurs to succeed.

AEO is also hosting a special webinar in its “Equity and Opportunity for All” series this afternoon at 3PM EST in celebration of Native American Heritage Month, featuring insights from Native community lenders and experts. This event will provide actionable strategies to strengthen Native-owned businesses and foster equitable opportunities.
