Today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is slated to introduce a bill that could end the shutdown. While some are hoping this is the start of a compromise, others believe the bill will be dead on arrival the House, which is controlled by Democrats. Here are the key details of the bill:
• Spending Increases: The bill will include provisions to increase spending for personnel, drug detection, and immigration courts.
• Border Protection: The bill proposes $5.7 billion for an additional 230 miles of fencing.
• Disaster Relief: More than $12 billion is proposed for natural disaster relief funding
• Immigration: A three-year extension of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status programs is proposed in the compromise
