After passing a rule on the $3.5 trillion budget resolution, the House is back to its scheduled August recess. The Senate will return to session on September 13. 

Looking ahead to September, insiders on the Hill expect a busy month, as there are several pressing priorities leading up to the end of the federal fiscal year on September 30 when funding runs out. Coupled with the Treasury Department’s high likelihood of reaching the debt ceiling by November, partisan showdowns and a continuing resolution could be on the horizon.
