Congress returns from its Thanksgiving break, but hopes are slim that lawmakers will achieve much in this lame-duck session. The most pressing item on their to-do list is keeping the government funded, with the current resolution set to expire on December 16. Leaders are trying to put together a one-week extension, but there’s still uncertainty if a deal to fund the government through 2023 will be reached. Other issues like extending the debt ceiling and increasing Ukraine aid are also on the list, but it’s likely they may only come to fruition after the start of the new year.
