Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) wrote a letter to U.S. Small Business Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman asking to make the SBA’s core loan programs more accessible to those impacted by the criminal justice system. The Senators urged the 7(a) and 504 Loan Programs to be open to those with a criminal record, evaluate the “good character” criterion for participation in SBA lending and contracting programs, and ask the Office of Entrepreneurial Development to create specific programming for justice-impacted entrepreneurs for each state.
