March 13, 2021—WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) supports the American Rescue Plan, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden on Thursday afternoon.  This critical legislative package provides the appropriate response to combat the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and its ensuing economic downturns devastating microbusinesses throughout Main Street America and American families.

In keeping with our mission to work with policymakers and Washington officials in their endeavor to provide adequate pandemic resources and capital to the most vulnerable communities, AEO is proud to have advocated for and championed several of the new provisions within the new economic relief package.

The new revisions to the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loan Advance Grant Program, and the Shuttered Venues Operators Grant Program within this pivotal legislation will carve out new pathways to recovery and opportunity for millions of struggling Americans. Additionally, the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund will be an important tool for getting Main Street back working again.

While economic uncertainty and COVID-19-related health challenges persist, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 places our nation in a strong position to conquer these unfortunate challenges. AEO looks forward to helping millions of entrepreneurs combat the pandemic and contribute to economic growth while supporting themselves, their families, and their communities in the year ahead. We stand with our more than 1,700 members and partners including a broad range of organizations that provide capital and services to assist underserved entrepreneurs in starting, stabilizing, and expanding their businesses.
