Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI-13) introduced a bill to require the Director of the Office of Entrepreneurship Education of the Small Business Administration to establish and maintain a website regarding small business permitting and licensing requirements and for other purposes.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA-11) introduced a bill to require the Secretary of the Treasury to issue a report containing information on extraordinary measures available when the debt of the United States Government approaches the statutory limit and for other purposes.

 

On The Hill

The House Committee on Small Business held a hearing on Wednesday July 19, 2023 on “Burdensome Red Tape: Overregulation in Health Care and the Impact on Small Businesses.”

The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship held a Business Meeting on Wednesday July 19, 2023. The agenda for the meeting includes 25 pieces of small business legislation, some of which were incorporated in Chair Cardin’s reauthorization package from last year along with other legislation introduced this Congress.

 

At the Agencies

The Small Business Administration recently released a press release announcing the availability of $300,000 for two grant opportunities for established and aspiring Women’s Business Center (WBC) host organizations to provide outcome-oriented business services for women entrepreneurs in Oregon and Washington, D.C. Each location will be awarded a grant of up to $150,000.
