Alabama Innovation Corporation Gives $4.5 Million in Grants to Small Businesses 

The Alabama Innovation Corporation awarded $4.5 million in grants to 30 Alabama-based small businesses. The initiative, created by the state government, gives grants to companies that have been granted Phase I or Phase II awards through the Federal Small Business Innovation Research Program or Federal Small Business Technology Transfer Program.

Citigroup Joins Government Effort to Increase Business Credit 

Citigroup plans to launch a pilot program in Los Angeles to allow 20 bank branches to give loans to small businesses owned by minorities, women, and veterans. The megabank also plans to offer two pilot programs in 2023 that provide credit access to underserved communities.

New Government Plan Could Expand Overtime for More Workers 

The U.S. Department of Labor is working on a plan to potentially increase the number of salaried workers eligible for overtime. If approved, workers making up to $50,000 annual salary would be eligible.
