In The States

In New York, a recent legislation will restrict employers from accessing the personal social media accounts of their employees, with exceptions granted for legal obligations and business-related accounts. Several states are following suit by implementing comparable privacy safeguards to bolster individual privacy.

During the fiscal year 2022, Nevada‘s employment development agencies allocated $44,769 for each recently unemployed worker, amounting to a total expenditure of $15 million. This figure constitutes 40% of the state’s workforce development budget and is 20 times higher than the national average. Detractors argue that Nevada’s elevated job growth and vacancy rates, coupled with the disproportionately high cost of filling these positions, reflect an inefficient allocation of resources.
