The US Small Business Administration has recently announced plans to conduct a roundtable discussion on regulatory enforcement in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 25th. The session will be facilitated by the SBA’s ombudsman and will concentrate on the objective of “equalizing the regulatory playing field.” This event provides business owners with a platform to express their concerns and opinions regarding regulatory policies.

In The States

In response to concerns regarding potential biases and privacy issues associated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Texas is establishing an advisory committee tasked with providing recommendations on its deployment. Meanwhile, in California, Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) has introduced the California AI Accountability Act. This legislation aims to establish a regulatory framework governing the use of AI by state agencies.

Hawaii is part of a growing national movement toward pay transparency. A new law that came into effect on January 1 mandates that employers with more than 50 employees must include a salary range in external job postings, reasonably reflecting the anticipated compensation. It’s important to note that this requirement does not extend to internal job postings.
