Tax Reform
Senate Budget Resolution Debate: Today, the Senate is expected to debate their FY 2018 Budget Resolution which provides the Senate Finance Committee with $1.5 trillion for tax reform. The Senate rules allow any Senator to bring an amendment to the floor for debate. Amendments of note as of today:
• Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) – amendment to establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to reducing tax complicity for small businesses.
• Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) – amendment to establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the expansion of access to the income tax credit for employee health insurance expenses of small employers.
Hearings
• Today @ 10 AM: Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Nomination Hearing of GSA Administrator Nominee Emily Murphy, 342 Dirksen Senate Building.
Legislation
• S. 1969, introduced by Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ). This bill creates a program to provide funding for organizations that support startup businesses in formation and early growth stages by providing entrepreneurs with resources and services to produce viable businesses. Text for this bill is not yet available.
• H.R. 4071, the “Startup Opportunity Accelerator Act of 2017,” introduced by Representative Blunt Rochester (D-DE). This bill creates a program to provide funding for organizations that support startup businesses in formation and early growth stages by providing entrepreneurs with resources and services to produce viable businesses.
